The Jazz acquire center Kyrylo Fesenko from the Philadelphia 76ers

The Jazz figure that they are better off with a developmental center than a young power forward.  Fesenko is 7′0″, 235 pounds and he hasn’t been overly productive in the Ukraine.  He has played in 42 games and he’s averaged 5.7 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.0 assist per game.  Most of his shots are putbacks or dunks which explains his 58.3% shooting from the floor and his 55.6% shooting from the free throw line.  This was probably not a good deal for the Jazz as Fesenko might not sign this season.

The Utah Jazz select Morris Almond in the first round

The Jazz wanted to get better at shooting guard and they were happy to see Morris Almond available to them in the first round.  Almond is a physical guard at 6′6″, 215 pounds and he’s a flat out scorer.  He set all kinds of records at Rice and he should battle Derek Fisher for his starting job.  Almond played in 121 games at Rice and he averaged 15.1 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.0 assist, 0.7 steals and 0.5 blocks per game.  Almond has been a great shooter too as he hit 49.2% from the floor, 43.5% from the the free throw line and 82.4% from the free throw line.  Almond was another great pick by the Jazz and he could be a darkhorse candidate for the NBA Rookie of the Year Award.

The Utah Jazz look to improve in the NBA Draft again this season

Last season the Jazz added Paul Millsap and Ronnie Brewer in the draft and they were both excellent players as rookies that have very bright futures.  The Jazz are hoping to add a couple of more players to add for the team’s very bright future.  They own the #25 and #55 picks in this year’s draft and they will likely take the best player available as they have their whole rotation signed for next season.  The only change that could be coming is that the Jazz might put small forward Andrei Kirilenko on the block.  If they do that their will be a lot of interest for him as he might be able to bring the Jazz a high pick in the first round and they would consider pulling the trigger on a trade like that one.
