Rookies aren’t doing much for the Jazz

Blogged under Bloglockers, Rookie Reports, Front Page, Uncategorized by alleyoop on Monday 31 December 2007 at 2:07 am

Guard Morris Almond and center Kyrylo Fesenko are certainly not looking like last year’s haul of Paul Millsap and Ronnie Brewer. Almond was selected to take on Brewer in training camp for the starting shooting guard spot and he lost out. He has played in 4 games this season and he is averaging 3.0 minutes and has yet to score. Fesenko has played in 7 games so far this season and he’s averaging 9.0 minutes, 1.4 points, 3.3 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game. Don’t look for either of these guys to get increased playing time any time soon as Coach Sloan is old school and makes players earn time on the court.

The Utah Jazz have two players that are dominating in December

Deron Williams and Carlos Boozer have been outstanding so far this season. Deron Williams is on fire in December as he’s played in 4 games this month and he’s averaging 38.5 minutes, 30.8 points, 2.3 rebounds, 9.8 assists and 1.0 steal per game. He also is shooting the heck out of the basketball. He has hit 57.4% from the floor, 60% from three point range and 85.7% from the free throw line. Carlos Boozer has also been outstanding this month. He has played in 4 games this month and he has averaged 34.8 minutes, 23.8 points, 12.0 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 2.0 steals per game. He also has nailed 58.6% of his shots from the floor which is outstanding. The Jazz will continue to be great as long as Williams & Boozer both stay healthy.

The Utah Jazz are looking good this season

Blogged under Bloglockers, Game Recaps, Front Page by alleyoop on Wednesday 12 December 2007 at 12:23 am

The Utah Jazz are tied with the Nuggets for first place in the Northwest Division with a 13-8 record. The Jazz are outstanding on offense as they are averaging 107.1 points per game. They play enough defense but it could improve a little as the Jazz are allowing 100.7 points per game.

Paul Millsap would start for most teams in the NBA…just not the Utah Jazz

Blogged under Bloglockers, Steppin Up, Front Page by alleyoop on Thursday 6 December 2007 at 2:59 pm

2nd year power forward Paul Millsap would start for most teams in the NBA but he’s blocked by Carlos Boozer on the Jazz. In his first 17 games this season Millsap has averaged 20.8 minutes, 8.0 points, 5.7 rebounds and 0.7 assists per game. He also is shooting an outstanding 53.3% from the floor this season. He is the best player on the Jazz’ bench and that’s saying a lot.
