Ronnie Brewer in Mr. Dependable for the Utah Jazz this year

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by alleyoop on Tuesday 29 December 2009 at 6:06 pm

Ronnie Brewer has really played well this season despite not being a top option on the offense. Brewer has played in 30 games (all starts) for the Jazz this season and he is averaging 34.6 minutes, 10.7 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.8 steals per game. Brewer will likely get more shots down the road for the Jazz but until then he will keep doing the little things that winning teams like the Jazz need him to do.

The Jazz were flat tonight as they only hit 37.5% from the floor and it did them in. Deron Williams led the way for the Jazz tonight with 18 points, 1 rebound and 6 assists. Carlos Boozer had a solid game too with 14 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 blocked shots. Mehmet Okur pitched in with 9 points and 5 rebounds in 29 minutes tonight. The Utah Jazz trade Eric Maynor to the Thunder

Blogged under Big Jazz News,Bloglockers,Comings & Goings,Front Page,General by alleyoop on Wednesday 23 December 2009 at 6:21 pm

The Jazz have traded 22-year old point guard Eric Maynor and 33-year old SG/SF Matt Harpring to the Thunder for 2002 2nd round pick Peter Fehse. Maynor played in 26 games (2 starts) for the Jazz this season and he averaged 14.0 minutes, 5.2 points, 1.5 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game. Matt Harpring has not played at all this season due to injury. He played in 63 games (2 starts) last season for the Jazz and he averaged 11.0 minutes, 4.4 points, 2.0 rebounds and 0.4 assists per game. Fehse has never played in a NBA game and he likely won’t for the Jazz either. This trade saves the Jazz $13 million bucks and that is why they were willing to trade Maynor to the Thunder.

C.J. Miles earns his way back into the starting line-up for the Utah Jazz

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by alleyoop on Tuesday 22 December 2009 at 9:57 am

C.J. Miles has been recovering from a injury which kept him out about 1.5 months to start the season. But, he has now bumped rookie Wesley Matthews out of the starting line-up. Miles has played in 10 games (1 start) for the Jazz so far this season and he is averaging 22.3 minutes, 9.8 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game. This is a good sign for the Jazz as Matthews should strengthen the bench while Miles should give the Jazz more firepower in the starting line-up.

Paul Millsap is just biding his time with the Utah Jazz

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by alleyoop on Tuesday 22 December 2009 at 9:54 am

Paul Millsap is making the most of his playing time this season. He has played in 28 games (0 starts) in which he is averaging 25.8 minutes, 10.9 points, 5.3 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game. The Jazz tried like hell to trade Carlos Boozer last summer but they couldn’t find any takers. Boozer has played really well this season but it is blocking Paul Millsap from getting the playing time he deserves. Millsap has been a good soldier as he is just waiting for his next chance at the starting line-up.

Blogged under Big Jazz News,Bloglockers,Game Recaps,General by Andrew on Tuesday 22 December 2009 at 8:20 am

The Utah Jazz (16-12) went back and forth with the Orlando Magic (21-7) last night in a close game.  The Jazz just could not keep up with the Magics’ hot shooting though.  The Jazz only shot 40% from the field and had 15 turnovers, while the Magic hit 49% of their shots.  Derron Williams’ shot was off, but he still played hard and got others involved.  He had 18 points, 12 assists, and 2 steals.  Paul Millsap had a great game off the bench with 20 points on 8-11 shooting.  The Magic got a big game from their bench too though, as J.J. Redick caught fire and dropped 20 points in 24 points.  Dwight Howard was also a force on both ends, blocking the Jazz 5 times and scoring 21 points and grabbing 9 rebounds.  The Jazz needed to shoot better to win this won.
