C.J. Miles is about the same as last year for the Utah Jazz

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Need to step up by alleyoop on Sunday 14 February 2010 at 4:17 pm

C.J. Miles was a starting player last season for the Jazz. But this year he is coming off the bench for the Jazz for the most part but the numbers are still the same. Miles has played in 32 games (10 starts) for the Jazz this season and he is averaging 19.9 minutes, 8.6 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game. I think this is about the ceiling for Miles at least as long as the Jazz have other options on the offense.

The Utah Jazz could use a little more help out of Mehmet Okur

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Need to step up by alleyoop on Tuesday 9 February 2010 at 4:00 pm

Mehmet Okur’s numbers are down a little bit this season but I think it is because Carlos Boozer has been healthy most of the year and he’s getting the ball a lot more than last season. Okur has played in 45 games (all starts) for the Jazz this season and he is averaging 29.1 minutes, 12.6 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game. Okur is still shooting well from long range hitting 39.4% on his three point attempts which is outstanding for a center.

Kosta Koufos has been awful for the Utah Jazz this season

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Need to step up by alleyoop on Tuesday 2 February 2010 at 7:11 pm

20-year old center Kosta Koufos has stunk so bad this season that he was demoted to the D-League for a while. He has played in 22 games (0 starts) for the Jazz so far this season and he is averaging 3.7 minutes, 1.2 points, 1.2 rebounds and 0.2 assists per game. Koufos is only shooting 39.1% from the floor this season which is down right pathetic for a player his size (7’0″, 265 pounds). He is still young but his play is regressing and that has to have the Jazz concerned.

Utah Jazz 106, Los Angeles Clippers 88

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps,Need to step up by alleyoop on Saturday 19 January 2008 at 10:08 pm

The Jazz shot 51.8% from the floor and they outrebounded the Clippers 43-34 which explains the ease of the victory last night. Carlos Boozer led the way for the Jazz with 19 points, 10 rebounds and 3 assists. Deron Williams had a decent game with 15 points, 3 rebounds and 6 assists. Andrei Kirilenko pitched in with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. The Jazz improved to 23-18 on the season with this win.

The Utah Jazz need Derek Fisher to pick his play back up

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Need to step up by alleyoop on Thursday 12 April 2007 at 2:46 pm

Derek Fisher has played pretty well all season for the Jazz until the calendar turned to April.  He has played in 6 games this month and he’s averaged 8.5 points, 2.0 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game.  His shooting has been horrible as he’s only hit 29.7% of his shots from the floor and he’s only 2 for 18 from three-point range.  With the playoffs coming next weekend, the Jazz need Fisher to break out of his recent shooting funk.

Paul Millsap and Matt Harpring need to pick up the slack

Blogged under Front Page,Need to step up by Nothing but Net on Wednesday 31 January 2007 at 4:48 pm

With Carlos Boozer out look for rookie Paul Millsap to get big minutes.  He’s been impressive so far this season in limited duty.  He’s only averaged 16.0 minutes played per game this season, but, he’s averaging 6.2 points and 4.6 rebounds.  If he can double those averages the Jazz will be o.k.  Matt Harpring will also get some minutes at power forward.  He’s averaging 24.2 minutes, 10.4 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game this season, so chances are he’ll play well with the extra minutes.

Derek Fisher needs to play better

Blogged under Front Page,Need to step up by Nothing but Net on Wednesday 24 January 2007 at 2:23 am

Derek Fisher has not played well in the last 8 games he has played.  Fisher has only hit 33.9% of his shots from the floor and has averaged 8.4 points, 2.0 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game in his last 8 games.  If he doesn’t improve his shooting, he will likely start to lose playing time.

Gordan Giricek needs to get tougher to play for the Jazz

Blogged under Front Page,Need to step up by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 16 January 2007 at 11:48 pm

Gordan Giricek doesn’t fit the mold of a Jazz player as he’s as soft as Charmin.  He’s a decent offensive player, but Jerry Sloan favors the tough guys and some of the younger players on the Jazz are taking minutes away from Giricek.  He’s played in 26 games and is averaging 15.8 minutes, 5.7 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.3 assists this season.Â
