2010-11 will be the season that Paul Millsap truly breaks out for the Utah Jazz

With Carlos Boozer likely to leave as a free agent over the summer, 25-year old Paul Millsap will likely move into the starting lineup for good. Millsap played in 82 games (8 starts) for the Jazz last season and he averaged 27.8 minutes, 11.6 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.2 blocked shots. Millsap has now played in 322 games (49 starts) in his four years with the Jazz and he has averaged 24.0 minutes, 9.9 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.0 blocked shot per game. Look for Millsap to average at least 15 points and 9 rebounds per game and probably more starting in 2010-11 for the Jazz.

The Utah Jazz need Deron Williams to bounce back in game 3

Blogged under General, The NBA Playoffs, Bloglockers, Need to step up, Big Jazz News by Andrew on Friday 7 May 2010 at 7:18 pm

Deron Williams had the best first round out of pretty much any player in the playoffs, but in the second round the Los Angeles Lakers have been able to slow him down and that is why the Utah Jazz are down 2-0 so far.  Williams is shooting just 36% from the field and averaging 19.5 points and 8.5 assists in two games against the Lakers.  In the first round he was on fire, shooting 49% from the field and 48% from three, on his way to averaging 25.8 points and 11.3 assists.  Williams had a decent outing in game one, but they needed more than 24 points and 8 assists from him.  He only 15 points in game two, so Williams has to step it up and try and get back in the groove he was in during their first round series against the Nuggets.  The Lakers are much better defensive team than the Nuggets though, and the Lakers size has been making it much more difficult for Williams and the rest of the Jazz to finish in the paint.  The Jazz are going to need Williams to put up some monster numbers if they want a chance in this series, because if he keeps playing like this they will get swept.

The Jazz got outrebounded last night 58-40 and they didn’t play much D as the Lakers shot 50.6% from the floor which explains the loss last night. Paul Millsap was outstanding off the bench in this game for the Jazz as he finished up with 26 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals. C.J. Miles had one of his best games of the year last night for the Jazz with 20 points, 4 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals. Carlos Boozer was his usual solid self offensively last night with 20 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Deron Williams (15 points) and Wesley Matthews (14 points) also pitched in on offense for the Jazz last night. The Jazz are now down 2-0 as this series shifts to Salt Lake City.
